I am a native French speaker, grew up near Montreal. I spent seven years in beautiful British Columbia before moving to Texas in 2007 for love, the only reason I would have ever considered such a thing. For me, yoga is an ongoing, all-day-everyday process of connection, awareness and transformation
Immediately upon beginning to practice yoga, I knew that I would become a teacher someday. The Iyengar studio where I started to practice was just behind a big cathedral. I attended class on Sunday mornings, and I remember that as we chanted the invocation at the start of class, we could hear the cathedral bells ringing. I remember feeling as though I, too, was entering a sacred space: that of my body. It was the fact that yoga enabled me to use my body as a vessel for spiritual practice that kept me coming back for more, and led me, shortly after landing in Texas, to begin Teacher Training at Yoga Yoga in Austin in the fall of 2007.
At first, I was practicing in the Iyengar and Anusara styles. But in Teacher Training I was exposed to the Viniyoga style, as taught by Gary Kraftsow, and found that it was a much more appropriate for my body. I learned to use my breath to initiate movement, and to incorporate pranayama (breathing exercises), chanting and meditation into my practice. My teaching style is primarily informed and inspired by the Viniyoga style, but I have recently begun to explore and incorporate the teachings of Yin yoga into my own practice, and into my classes.
I graduated from the Yoga Yoga Teacher Training program in the spring of 2008, and completed the Leslie Lytle Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training that same fall. In the summer of 2010 I completed my 500-hour certification through Advanced Studies at Yoga Yoga, specializing in Pranayama, Literature & Language of Yoga, and Teaching Privates. I love classical Yoga texts such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita, and often weave their teachings into my classes. I am currently studying to deepen my knowledge and understanding of anatomy and kinesiology, as well as exploring Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation), Yin yoga, and meditation.
My crafty and artistic pursuits include knitting, sewing, photography and writing. I am an avid reader and a passionate cook, and I love the home life I share on a scrappy acre up Hilliard Road with my husband, a dog and two cats. I am the proud new mama of a beautiful boy, whom we welcomed into the world in January of 2011.
